Adventure Ropes

June 4th, 2009 · No Comments

Ropes form an integral part of many corporate away days and teambuilding games. They are a versatile tool for the modern teamwork building applications, and as such are utilized in a variety of methods.

The rope course is a standard tool in corporate and family teambuilding games. It’s a challenging outdoor personal development and team building activity which consists most usually of a high course and a low course.

The high course is normally a pre-fabricated course composed of utility poles, though sometimes the poles can be left out in favour of trees in an appropriately heavily wooded area. High courses come in either static or dynamic styles – a static style course will ensure that the participant is safely attached to a cable-harness to prevent falls. A dynamic course, on the other hand, involves a rope harness in which the rope is held by another person, who feeds or belays rope length as is appropriate for the specifications of the adventure ropes course.

A low ropes course, in contrast, is set up at ground level, and consists of several real and imagined obstacles that force groups to work together to achieve success. Low adventure rope courses are separated into cooperative game activities, group initiative activities, and trust building games such as the infamous ‘trust-fall’.

Adventures ropes are a good method of encouraging personal achievement and teamwork among groups or individuals. Scheduling a corporate away day on the low adventure ropes course can help build a lasting camaraderie in individuals who share office space.
