There are 147 species of mammals at the park, in addition to over 500 types of birds and 33 species of amphibians.  The famous ‘big five’ – lions, buffalo, leopards, rhinos and elephants – are each represented in their thousands.  Guests can take one of the numerous tours on offer and see every species of animal they could wish to see (if they are not feeling shy), right down to the smallest spiders.

Kruger National Park includes rest camps and private lodges as accommodation and also offers an authentic and exciting outdoor camping experience close to some of the animals.  Wilderness trails can either be travelled by vehicle to see the larger wildlife, or on foot; foot trails concentrate more on birds, plants and animal tracking.  Of course, all tours on all trails are accompanied by at least one armed and trained ranger at all times.

Getting to the park is relatively straightforward.  Flights can be caught to Johannesburg, after which hiring a car is an option to drive to Kruger.  Catching a connecting flight from Johannesburg to one of Kruger’s surrounding airports would be a quicker choice.

As one of the largest safari parks in the world, Kruger National Park should be an option for any wildlife-lover looking to book an exciting holiday.

People who want to take a peek back in time have a lot to see in Brittany.  There are well over 4,000 old buildings in the region, including castles and medieval houses.  St-Malo is a walled city in Brittany that has cobblestoned streets and other medieval remnants.  Dinan, a walled medieval town, is another popular stop.  It sits atop a hill.

There are many fun things to do in Brittany.  During spring and summer, outdoor sports are very popular.  Sailing, surfing, and diving are all exciting activities.  The region also boasts Oceanopolis, a huge attraction that has dozens of aquariums.  All types of water life are represented here.  Le Mont St-Michel, one of the most popular attractions in all of France, is an island with a huge monastery at the centre.

Crete is attractive for beach holidays as it has some of the best beaches in Europe but Crete has so much more to offer. Crete offers some wonderful walks through dramatic gorges and spectacular scenery. Three interlinked mountain ranges split the island in two from east to west. The White Mountains in the west have the highest point in Crete of 2456 metres. At the eastern end of the island are the Dikti Mountains, and the huge flat Lassithi plateau among the peaks. The central mountain of Crete is the Psiloritis Range whose dominant peak is Mount Ida.

The capital of Crete is Iraklion. Just outside the city are the ruins the palace of Knossos where in legend, King Minos ruled and was where the labyrinth where the Minotaur lived. Try to avoid unofficial guides as the official guides will give you a better and more accurate understanding of the history of Crete. The longest gorge in Europe is the Samaria Gorge in Crete and is part of the White Mountains National Park. The walk through the gorge is 16 kilometres and best done as a day trip with a tour company.

Close to the French border is Pas de la Casa, the highest resort in the Pyrenees.  This claim to fame gives this resort a great snow record and a variety of runs above the tree line.  The resort is purpose built so is guaranteed to offer skiing facilities that are second to none.  Ski areas are shared with Soldeu and there is a full area pass available for those into adventure.

There are a few advanced black runs, but there is plenty of off-piste skiing to satisfy the hard core enthusiast – especially around Grau Roig.  Pas de la Casa has quite a few intermediate and beginner runs with plenty of long red runs.  Pas de la Casa has a bit of a reputation for a vibrant night life, but there are children’s facilities available.  They don’t call the area “Ibiza in the snow” for nothing!

Firstly, make sure the property is in good decorative order.  Neutral colours are good as they do not put people off in the same way more personal decorative styles might.  Remove all your own clutter; do not leave out family photos or expensive ornaments, even though some decorative items will be needed to make the property seem homely and inviting.

But Morzine is not one of those resorts that shut up shop with the melting snow.   Far from it.  With the advent of spring the town blossoms into a fabulous Alpine walking destination.

With its beautiful scenery and sparkling mountain air it’s the perfect place for a summer walking holiday.  The ski lifts transport walkers and mountain bikers up to high pastures criss-crossed with footpaths and bike trails.

The town is bustling with life, unlike many out-of-season ski resorts with closed-up shops and shuttered apartments.  There is a weekly market, annual festivals, paragliding championships, and of course the Tour de France, which always passes close by every July. 

Then there is the shopping.  Especially for the British traveller, Orlando is one tourist destination where you want to ensure ample room in your suitcase for purchases.  The malls are huge and filled with shops offering everything under the sun.

Of course there are also plenty of attractions on hand.  Universal Orlando for Tots offers Seuss Landing as part of the Islands of Adventure, specifically designed for the wee ones; children will enjoy the One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish ride and more.  During the holiday season, they can even celebrate ‘Grinchmas’.  Also, as a recent addition to Universal Orlando, there is the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, a delight for younger fans as well as older ones.

And there is Disney World, offering amazing adventure for all ages.  Tired of rides and shows?  Downtown Disney offers shopping and entertainment over 120 acres of land.  Or take a day off and spend it at the resort: Orlando is famous for its all-inclusive resorts.  With so much to see and do, you might never need to leave.

The resort itself covers a vast area and each region is known by its altitude, for example, the highest and most glamorous region is Courchevel 1850, other regions consist of 1300, 1550 and 1650. Each region caters for differing levels of expertise which allows this resort to cover a larger client base. The lower villages tend to be more family orientated, and have a quieter atmosphere, while the higher villages have a more chic atmosphere with many very pricy shops.

The whole resort of Courchevel boasts 117 ski runs over a total 150km area. There are also 63 ski lifts to take skiers to their chosen altitude. First time skiers will not be disappointed and will enjoy their ski holiday. France can provide it all, for novice and experienced skiers alike, with excellent ski schools and plenty of instructors.

There is a free bus service linking all the villages and there is also plenty for the non skier to do. Archery and air ballooning are often not associated with ski holidays, but France’s Courchevel resort also provides these activities along with tobogganing and skating. A ski holiday in France at Courchevel truly has something for everyone.

Aviemore is probably the most well-known ski resort in Scotland. The slopes are ideal for beginners and there is plenty of expert tuition available. There are also more challenging slopes for expert skiers. There is plenty of accommodation ranging from self-catering apartments to hotels and it is ideal for weekend and mid week skiing holidays. When the snow is good, be aware that it may be very busy.

The Lecht is another resort in Scotland that caters for skiers of all abilities, as well as all ages. There is a rental shop for boots and skis as well as shops where you can buy clothing. Clothing can also be hired providing you pre-book (booking by phone is acceptable). For those times when the Scottish weather is against the skier, there are snow cannons on every run and Lecht has the largest snow making system in Scotland.

Nevis range has a range of runs and a good record for snow. Situated in the shadow of Ben Nevis, it has fantastic views and the runs cater for all levels of experience from beginners to the accomplished skier, and there is also an artificial ski slope.

Glenshee has an extensive site where the snow can be powdery and deep but also can be icy and extremely windy. The unpredictable Scottish weather is always going to be a problem for skiers but for those in the UK it is easily accessible and great for day trips or short breaks.

Theatre breaks usually consist of coach travel from the pick-up point to the hotel in London, a small amount of free time in the city, then coach travel to the theatre to see the show. The following day usually consists of sightseeing, or a coach trip to one of the shopping malls such as the Lakeland shopping centre, before returning home to the original pick up point.
