Cruising The Mekong

February 12th, 2012 · No Comments

Taking a trip on the Mekong River is one of the main attractions for visitors to Vietnam and it is easy to get there from Ho Chi Minh City.

One of the best ways to experience this area is to take an organised trip, which can be easily arranged in Ho Chi Minh City.  These trips often last from one to three days, with the longer trip being highly recommended as visitors will get an in-depth look at this endlessly fascinating area and see a few floating markets.  By taking a tour there will be a combination of bus and boat travel so visitors can take a glimpse of rural life, and rice paddies on the way to the Mekong River.  Once tours reach the floating markets on the mighty Mekong River, bus transport is swapped for a boat trip where visitors will see life on the river and the floating markets.

Two of the more popular floating markets are Cai Be, and further afield, the amazing floating market of Cai Rang.  Both are fascinating, although Cai Rang hustles and bustles with activity that will get your camera clicking rapidly.
